Education and Qualifications
Markus holds both BA and MA degrees in Music and Dance Education from the Orff Institute at the University Mozarteum in Austria, specializing in Choreography and Performance. He also completed studies in Choreography at the University Arnhem in the Netherlands and earned a Masters in Directing from the University of Western Sydney - Markus is a true multidisciplinary artist and educator.
Professional Experience
For over three decades, Markus has worked as a specialist music teacher, private tutor, choir leader, and ensemble facilitator. His career spans continents and classrooms, festivals and concert halls, always rooted in a passion for creative expression as a pathway to learning, connection, and community healing.
Passion for World Music and Performance
Having travelled extensively, Markus has developed a keen appreciation for world music and contemporary performance practices. These influences inform his creative teaching and performance projects.
Advocacy and Community Engagement
A passionate supporter of the creative arts, Markus believes in their ability to support learning, foster connection, and promote inclusivity within communities. A passionate advocate for inclusive education, Markus believes music should be accessible, embodied, and joyfully experienced by all. His facilitation style blends movement, improvisation, vocal play, and his activities aim to bring a fresh, vibrant energy to participants of all ages.
Leadership and Creative Initiatives
Markus serves as a music project school leader, musician, Artist in Residence, conductor, and the founding Artistic Director of a Central Australian Chamber Orchestra and a music project school. He is actively involved in developing innovative music education and live performance ideas in the Northern Territory, especially in remote Central Australia.
